Damian encourages members of Murray to support the Black Dog Ride
The Nationals Federal Member for Murray Damian Drum is encouraging members of the Murray community to support the local Black Dog Ride on its "Milk Run" as the riders fundraise in support of our dairy farmers and their communities.
Black Dog Ride began in 2009 as one man's ride to raise awareness of depression, developing into national suicide prevention charity involving thousands of Australian motorcycle riders who've raised over $2,200,000 for mental health services, fostering mental health awareness around the country.
Mr Drum said this ride is putting the spotlight not only on mental health awareness and suicide prevention but how financial pressure can create higher levels of risk for mental illness.
“I am pleased to be supporting my friend Ash Lau and his fellow riders when they take off on their ride this weekend,” Mr Drum said.
“I encourage members of the Murray community to support the ride by buying tickets for their Victorian Milk Run Ride Finale to be held at the Overland Function Room, 97 Benalla Road, Shepparton on Saturday 29th October.
“If you can’t make that event you can purchase tickets in the Black Dog Ride’s 2016 BMW Bike Raffle at https://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/black-dog-ride-2016-bmw-raffle-tickets-26673890324,” Mr Drum said.
Only 2,000 tickets for the BMW RnineT Scrambler will be sold and for a low $50 each! Ticket sales close at 11.59pm Monday November 7th 2016. The raffle will be drawn on Thursday 10th November 2016 at 11am AWST at Black Dog Ride Head Office, 15 Kershaw Street, Busselton WA 6280.
Mr Drum said the riders should stand out on their journey as they are asked to get involved with the spirit of this ride by wearing a friesian cow onesie (easily available on eBay).
