Damian Drum welcomes ACCC Dairy Forum for Shepparton

Federal Member for Murray, Damian Drum MP, has welcomed the competition watchdog’s announcement that a forum for dairy farmers will be held in Shepparton next month.

The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (ACCC) has announced a public forum will be held at the Shepparton Golf Club on Tuesday 28th February 2017 from 6:30pm to 8:30pm, as part of consultations for the ACCC’s Dairy Inquiry.

‘I am pleased the ACCC has chosen to hold one of its forums for dairy farmers right here in the Goulburn Valley,’ Mr Drum said. ‘This forum will give farmers in the Murray electorate the opportunity to give feedback on milk pricing, contracting issues and supply chain practices.’

‘I encourage farmers and interested parties across the Murray electorate to attend the public forum on Tuesday 28th February 2017,’ Mr Drum said. ‘This forum is an excellent way for farmers to share their issues and concerns with the ACCC.’

The feedback provided to the forum will assist the ACCC in preparing its Dairy Inquiry report, which was requested by Treasurer Scott Morrison MP in October 2016.

The ACCC will also hold forums in Toowoomba (QLD), Taree (NSW), Traralgon (VIC), Warrnambool (VIC), Bunbury (WA), Hahndorf (SA) and Burnie (TAS).
