Drummy for Mo-rray
This November Federal Member for Murray, the Hon Damian Drum will be joining forces with the Central Park St. Brendan’s Cricket Club to raise awareness and funds for the Movember Foundation.
Mr Drum said growing a moustache is a very easy task compared to physical and mental health issues some men endure through their day-to-day lives.
“The statistics surrounding men’s health are not great, men don’t live as long as women, men are less likely to seek help or support for whatever their illness may be and unfortunately men account for three out of four suicides. This campaign is about more than just growing a thick Mo, it’s about making a difference, raising funds and stopping men from dying too young,” Mr Drum said.
The Central Park St. Brendan’s Cricket Club players have been more than happy to join in on the campaign.
Central Park St. Brendan’s Coach, Andrew Cowen said it is important to raise awareness for men’s health. The moustache is synonymous with cricket, especially during the 70’s and 80’s eras, and it’s a great way to get the message through about the importance of men’s mental and physical health.
“The cricket club is more than happy to be supporting Damian in the Movember campaign this year. We believe men’s health is really important. The club is all about supporting each other regardless the ability, age or issue, and really that’s what Movember is about too,” Mr Cowen said.
Mr Drum is also encouraging men to get active this month. Part of the Movember campaign is to get blokes moving.
“As we get older we can sometimes get a bit lazy, we make more excuses about making the time to go to the gym, go for a jog or even take the dogs for walk. This November I’m calling on every bloke to stop making excuses, grow a great Mo and get active,” Mr Drum said.
“I have set a fundraising target of $1000 which can be donated to through my Movember Page. I’m asking the community to get behind myself and the cricketers to reach this target.
“To donate to my Movember campaign please visit www.Movember.com.au and search for Drummy for Morray. Every dollar can make a difference,” Mr Drum said.
