Full-time job losses across Bendigo

Thursday 21 January 201

Australian Bureau of Statistics figures released today show 3,079 full-time jobs have been lost in Bendigo under Daniel Andrews and Jacinta Allan.

Shadow Minister for Regional Development and Member for Northern Victoria Region, Damian Drum, said the number of people in full-time jobs in the Bendigo region had fallen from 43,796 in December 2014 to 40,717 in December 2015.

The local unemployment rate has risen by 1.1 per cent since December 2014 to reach 7.4 per cent in December 2015.

Mr Drum said Daniel Andrews and Jacinta Allan were spending $100 million on the so-called Back to Work Scheme, which had created just 50 jobs right across Greater Bendigo in its first six months.

Mildura had just 15 created and Shepparton had a pathetic seven.

“These figures show the Andrews Labor Government’s Back to Work Scheme has been a total failure for the Bendigo region and northern Victoria,” Mr Drum said.

“Daniel Andrews and Jacinta Allan are all-talk and no action when it comes to creating full-time jobs in Bendigo.”
