Goulburn Valley Local Investment Plan approved; Jobs and Investment Package open
Nationals Member for Murray Damian Drum has announced the Goulburn Valley Regional Jobs and Investment Package is open for applications.
Mr Drum said the Local Planning Committee chaired by Mr Sam Birrell had written a Local Investment Plan that would help guide decisions on which projects receive funding.
“The Coalition Government’s $20 million investment in the Goulburn Valley aims to create jobs which will employ locals for years to come,” Mr Drum said.
“This is a great chance for the Goulburn Valley region to create more jobs in the industries we want for our future and take control of our own destiny. Our local committee has chosen four major investment priorities, agriculture, manufacturing, tourism and aged care, and the Coalition Government is supplying $20 million to create jobs in these and other fields.
“This is a genuine partnership between locals and the Federal Government I look forward to seeing what applications are put forward.”
Funding will be available across three streams: Local Infrastructure, Business Innovation and Skills and Training, with the round open for applications until 19 October.
Nationals Deputy Leader and Minister for Regional Development Fiona Nash, who visited the Goulburn Valley during the election campaign to announce the policy, said the announcement followed the publication of the committee's Local Investment Plan.
“I aim to help build the kinds of communities our children and grandchildren either want to stay in or come back to, and allowing local communities like the Goulburn Valley to take control of their own destinies does that,” Minister Nash said.
“I thank the Goulburn Valley Local Planning Committee for their local investment plan and their hard work in writing it.”
