Speak up now to bring more Government jobs to Murray
Now is the time to speak up about bringing more Federal Government jobs to the region, Federal Member for Murray, Damian Drum said today.
A new website was launched this morning, making it easier for residents, businesses, councils and community groups to ‘have their say’ on moving government jobs out of Canberra and into regional areas.
Submissions can be made quickly and easily on the new website www.getoutofthecity.com.au for the up-coming Senate Inquiry into decentralisation.
‘I encourage everyone to make a submission to this Senate Inquiry,’ Mr Drum said. ‘Together we can make sure our strong regional voice is heard in Canberra.’
‘It is vital that you have your voice heard. I strongly urge your organisation to make a formal submission to the Senate Inquiry by next Friday 10 March 2017.’
‘Imagine the economic benefits of bringing 300 highly skilled jobs to our region. I recently spoke in Federal Parliament about the economic advantages of moving a Government agency such as the Murray Darling Basin Authority from Canberra to Shepparton.’
Shepparton Mayor, Dinny Adem, and The Committee for Greater Shepparton chief executive, Sam Birrell, also strongly support the proposal to move the MDBA to our region.
