Yarrawonga Mulwala Men’s Shed Receive Grant

The Yarrawonga Mulwala Men’s Shed have been successful in round 14 of the National Shed development program and will receive $3000 in funding.

Federal Member for Murray, the Hon Damian Drum said the funding will support men’s physical health, mental health and all-round wellbeing.

“The Yarrawonga Mulwala Men’s Shed is a strong part of the Yarrawonga and Mulwala community and it offers the opportunity for men, particularly as they got older, to connect with each other, socialise and often contribute to the local community through their many projects,” Damian Drum said.

“This funding will contribute towards materials and equipment for ‘quiet’ area floor coverings, curtains and a television for training and seminars.

“The $3000 grant will mean a lot to the members of the Men’s Shed and the broader community and I congratulate them on their success,” Mr Drum said.

“Men’s Sheds provide a sense of comradery, a safe and friendly environment where men can work on meaningful projects at their own pace, in their own time and in the company of their mates.”

“Members have an opportunity to pass their skills to others, learn new things, or just catch up regularly with other men in the community for a chat and a cup of tea,” Damian Drum said.

This grant funding is part of the $5.1 million the Federal Government has provided to the Australian Men’s Shed Association through to 2018-19 to support the national network of Men’s Sheds.
