An advertising blitz funded by the Federal Government is this week promoting domestic holidays that, importantly, will support local tourism jobs and businesses.

Federal Member for Nicholls, Damian Drum, said a $5 million campaign across national advertising, TV and event sponsorships has been launched to encourage Australians to book a domestic holiday this year.

It forms part of Tourism Australia’s Holiday Here This Year campaign for 2021.

“The campaign will feature Australian destinations, tourism products and experiences from every state and territory in national advertising, TV program and event sponsorships, publisher created content and in-program editorial integration,” Mr Drum said.

“I want the people right across Nicholls to take a break this year at one of Australia’s many holiday destinations to support jobs and businesses.

“It doesn’t matter if you book a holiday just down the road or on the other side of the country, you’ll be supporting Australian businesses and workers.

“The week-long advertising blitz will help drive Australians to book domestic holidays and give our tourism industry a much-needed boost.

“Our tourism industry is so important because it supports more than 665,000 local jobs and every dollar spent on an Australian holiday this year will help our tourism sector.

“When you do book your holiday this year, strongly consider booking it through a local travel agent because they’re doing it tough.”
