The Federal Government is again backing our nation’s invaluable volunteers, with $20 million available to support the vital work they do across Australia.

Federal Member for Nicholls, Damian Drum, said up to $132,450 was available in Nicholls as part of the 2021 Volunteer Grants round.

Mr Drum is encouraging eligible, not-for-profit community organisations in Nicholls to submit an expression of interest by April 16.

“I am liaising with community leaders and relevant committees to identify priority volunteer support for our local area,” Mr Drum said.

“Volunteers across Nicholls freely give their time to support local organisations in a variety of ways, making an extraordinary contribution to our community along the way.”

Grants of between $1000 and $5000 are available. These will assist volunteers and volunteer groups with the purchase of equipment, by reimbursing fuel, transport, or training costs, or supporting promotional activities.

Organisations must be nominated by their Federal Member of Parliament and meet the eligibility criteria.

The Department of Social Services will then send an application form to nominated organisations to apply for funding in May. Successful applicants will be announced in November.

More information is available by contacting the Mr Drum’s office (Damian.Drum.MP@aph.gov.au or 03 5821 5371) or by visiting the Federal Government’s GrantConnect website.
