Statement from Damian Drum, the Federal Member for Nicholls
I received my first dose of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine today at GV Health’s McIntosh Centre at the Shepparton Showgrounds.
It was a straightforward and painless process performed by medical experts.
I strongly encourage anyone who is eligible to be vaccinated to get it done as soon as possible.
There is a unanimous view across all of Australia’s Chief Health Officers, and the Therapeutic Goods Administration, about the safety and the fundamental importance of getting vaccinated.
It can protect you and protect everyone else in your community.
Phase 2A of the vaccine rollout commenced today, with people aged from aged 50 to 69 years now able to be vaccinated.
Those eligible can book a vaccination by calling Victoria’s COVID-19 hotline on 1800 675 398.
Alternatively, people can attend any of GV Health’s vaccine centres without an appointment, although there may be waiting times.
From May 17, those eligible can book a vaccination at a general practice.
The COVID-19 vaccine rollout is one of the largest logistical operations this country has ever seen. It is and continues to be an expanding rollout.
As of April 29, more than 2.1 million vaccinations had been administered across Australia.
